The long and harsh Scandinavian winters encouraged Danes to create atmosphere inside their homes with enchanting lighting and beautiful objects or 'brugskunst'. 'Brugskunst' - the art of the useful object, often features glassware, ceramics and metalwork. Together with ground breaking lighting solutions, Danish designed glass and ceramics became integral components to the Danish design movement of 40's, 50's and 60's.
